How SEA Water became B Corp Certified with help from The Terrace
Who is the client?
SEA Water is a Dutch purpose-driven brand redefining how we source and consume drinking water by transforming seawater into premium drinking water using only renewable energy. By combining local desalination with circular packaging, fullyrecyclable aluminium cans and returnable glass bottles, SEA Water challenges how we think about drinking water, scarcity, and the role of the ocean in a sustainable future. Step by step, SEA Water is working towards a future in which access to drinking water no longer comes at the expense of the planet.
What was the challenge?
SEA Water set out to achieve B Corp certification to clearly demonstrate the positive impact it is making and to lead by example within its sector. For SEA Water, impact is not a one-off ambition but a continuous process of improvement. Thismindset is also at the heart of the B Corp movement, making it the perfect certification for SEA Water. The Terrace supported SEA Water in the certification process, drawing on deep B Corp expertise.
How did The Terrace help?
B Corp certification is not a tick-box exercise. With recertification every three years and standards continuously rising, long-term success depends on strong internal ownership. The Terrace supported SEA Water as a strategic sparring partner throughout the process.
We provided hands-on guidance, shared in-depth B Corp knowledge to accelerate learning, and acted as a critical reviewer to ensure quality and consistency, while deliberately building SEA Water’s internal capability and independence.
Pursuing B Corp certification has led to numerous internal organisational improvements, and The Terrace’s support in determining which directions to take and what to focus on was instrumental.

What impact did we make?
SEA Water successfully achieved B Corp certification, confirming both its positive impact and its ambition to lead by example. Beyond the certification itself, the process strengthened internal alignment around impact, improved documentation and decision-making, and embedded continuous improvement more deeply into the organisation. Today, B Corp serves SEA Water not only as external validation, but as a practical framework guiding its future sustainability efforts.
The Terrace was the perfect support throughout this project. Felt very safe discussing things and it always felt like we came to the right conclusions and we always left our meetings, whatever it concerned, feeling more empowered and calm going forward.
