From baseline and strategy to Net Zero
How we supported YER with a structured and strategic approach to sustainability
Together with The Terrace, YER, a leading recruitment agency for highly educated professionals, created and implemented an integrated sustainability approach to future-proof its business. That includes preparing for new regulations like the Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD) — but also going beyond compliance to create real impact.
Step 1: Understanding the status quo
The collaboration began with a CSRD gap analysis, using the European Sustainability Reporting Standards (ESRS) as a framework. Through in-depth internal interviews, we mapped how far YER already was in addressing key sustainability topics, and where the main gaps lay. It also created internal awareness and sparked conversations around sustainability throughout the organisation that hadn’t been held before.
Step 2: Co-creating the ESG strategy
Building on the gap analysis, we facilitated internal working sessions to shape YER’s ESG strategy. These sessions brought together different departments to define their sustainability mission and vision, establish strategic pillars and objectives, and set up new initiatives and KPIs.
The result is a strategy that’s not just CSRD compliant, but also concrete and credible: grounded in YER’s values, aligned with stakeholder expectations, and ready to drive action.
Step 3: Plotting the Pathway to Net Zero
With strategic priorities in place, the next step was to turn ambition into action. The Terrace supported calculating YER’s Scope 1, 2 and 3 greenhouse gas emissions, providing a full picture of the company’s carbon footprint.
We then held an internal session to translate this baseline into a Pathway to Net Zero, which resulted in various short- and long-term reduction goals, with 2050 as the clear destination.
One story, many steps
The work with YER is a great example of how sustainability is not a one-off project – it’s a journey. By starting with a solid baseline, involving internal stakeholders, and translating insights into strategy and action, YER is now well on its way to embedding sustainability into its core.
