Understand and reduce climate impact

Understand and reduce your climate impact

From GHG calculations and Net-Zero pathways to action and transition plans. We’re here to help!

Transparency around emissions is no longer optional. Customers, investors, and regulations (such as CSRD and VSME) now expect measurable CO₂ data and a clear transition plan with concrete reduction targets.

Calculating your CO₂ footprint helps identify the biggest emission hotspots – often beyond your own operations – and forms the basis for targeted action. It also supports assessments such as EcoVadis and B Corp and ensures compliance with evolving regulations.

How we can help

Your climate strategy in four steps

We determine which GHG categories to include and select the appropriate calculation methods. Typically, we use the GHG Protocol, incorporating supplier-specific, expenses-based, or average data.

We gather consumption data from the selected baseline year for Scope 1, 2, and – if applicable – Scope 3 emissions. We also advise on how to collect this data most efficiently, both from within and outside your organisation. This data, along with emission factors, is used to calculate the total emissions.

We create a transition plan to reduce climate impact by setting clear targets for the short term (often 2030) and the long term (typically 2050). Additionally, we advise on suitable CO₂ removal projects to further reduce the remaining climate impact.

We ensure that you can effectively communicate and report the results in line with relevant regulations, such as the CSRD.

FAQ

The answers to the most frequently asked questions

We require data from your offices or production locations, such as energy and gas consumption and, if applicable, fuel consumption for company vehicles. We also request supplier data (such as LCA reports or general ledger accounts) for Scope 3 calculations.

This information typically comes from different individuals both inside and outside your organisation. Together, we’ll create a plan to collect the necessary data and ensure its quality.

Our methodology – the GHG Protocol – is the world’s most widely used standard for analysing a company’s climate impact. The calculations and transition plan align with CSRD and VSME and support well-established assessments like B Corp and EcoVadis.

However, note that these other services cover the entire ESG spectrum, whereas our climate impact service specifically focuses on environmental impact.

In steps 3 and 4, we define short- and long-term targets that align with SBTi. Official validation with SBTi requires additional documentation and steps, where The Terrace can also offer support.
