Implement your ESG strategy

From strategy to action

Time to take real steps and implement your ESG strategy.

The strategy is set, now it’s time for action.

Implementation is the phase where a specific strategy or action plan is executed. You either take the lead or collaborate with internal stakeholders to bring the strategy to life, for example by developing policies or carrying out specific initiatives. A learning agenda (with masterclasses or workshops) is also part of implementing your ESG strategy.

How we can help

Towards successful ESG implementation in four steps

Successful implementation starts with a solid foundation: a clear ESG strategy and a concrete understanding of your goals. Need help establishing this foundation? We can assist! Check our ESG Strategy page for more information.

Based on a baseline assessment or gap analysis, we create a concrete plan. This gives you a clear picture of your current position and the steps needed to execute the strategy. The plan aligns with your strategy and can integrate frameworks such as CSRD, EcoVadis, or B Corp.

Execution can take many forms:

Policy development – the foundation. Examples include a Code of Conduct, sustainable procurement policy, or whistleblower procedures.

Governance setup – people make the difference. Assign responsibilities and clarify roles to ensure the strategy is supported and adopted.

Engagement – collaboration amplifies impact. Involve employees, suppliers, and customers to build engagement and buy-in.

Training and development – the right knowledge in the right place. Workshops or e-learning sessions strengthen teams and embed sustainability.

Data collection and calculations – monitor KPIs and make performance visible.

We regularly review the action plan together to discuss progress. Actions can be refined or expanded, and once parts are completed, we determine the next steps to take.

FAQ

The answers to the most frequently asked questions

We can take on different roles: from sparring partner (co-creating next steps and providing guidance) to fully executing the plan and relieving as much of the workload as possible. Your team’s involvement remains important to ensure real organisational momentum.

A clear direction is essential for effective, impactful work. This can be comprehensive (double materiality assessment, ESG strategy, and action plan) or pragmatic. In a few joint sessions, we can already establish a framework and a concrete plan.

We also don’t have to wait for the full plan. Often, you already know the areas with the greatest impact and urgency – for example, diversity within your organisation, human rights in the supply chain, or emission reduction. We can start there!

Absolutely! Policies, reports, and strategies alone do not create sustainable change – engaged employees do. We help you identify key barriers to employee engagement and develop a tailored activation plan. This may include workshops, training, gamification, toolkits, internal communication plans, and ambassador programs.
